WEAR YELLOW FOR SETH is an independent general-news publication. We cover world and breaking news across business, economy, entertainment, health, politics, science, sports, technology, and general news. If you want to reach our readers, this page explains what we sell, what we do not, and the rules that govern all of it. We would rather set expectations honestly up front than waste your time later.
Who reads the site
Our audience is a general world and breaking-news readership. People come to us for what is happening across our categories: business and the economy, entertainment, health, politics, science, sports, technology, and world news. That mix means a broad, engaged audience rather than a single narrow niche, which suits advertisers who want reach and want to appear next to serious, regularly updated coverage.
What we sell
We keep the options straightforward:
- Programmatic display. Standard display inventory sold through advertising exchanges. This is the bulk of what runs on the site and the simplest way to reach our readers at scale.
- Direct display. Display placements sold directly to an advertiser who wants a defined presence on the site rather than exchange-fed inventory.
- Sponsored content. Content you pay to place, always clearly labelled as sponsored. It runs as sponsored material, never disguised as our newsroom’s reporting.
- Newsletter placement. Where we run a newsletter, a sponsor placement may be available. It is labelled the same way as everything else that is paid.
The firewall between advertising and editorial
This is the most important thing on the page, so we will be blunt about it. Buying advertising from us buys advertising space. It does not buy influence over our journalism. Specifically:
- Advertisers get no say over what we cover or how we cover it.
- Advertisers do not see stories before they publish and do not get an advance look at our coverage.
- We do not remove, soften, or bury a story because an advertiser objects to it.
- A current or potential advertising relationship earns no favorable coverage and no protection from unfavorable coverage.
This is not a courtesy we extend when it is convenient. It is a rule, and it is the same one described in our editorial standards and our ownership and funding page. If keeping that line costs us a sale, we keep the line.
Labelling of sponsored content
Anything an advertiser pays to place is marked as sponsored, plainly and visibly, so readers always know what they are looking at. We do not blur the line between paid placement and independent reporting, because doing so would cheat our readers and devalue the ad at the same time. Honest labelling protects everyone, including you.
What we will not run
We turn down advertising that would harm our readers or our credibility. Categories and creative we refuse include:
- Misleading, deceptive, or scam advertising, including fake news headlines and get-rich-quick schemes.
- Malware, or ads that redirect to malicious or fraudulent destinations.
- Adult or sexually explicit material.
- Hate speech, or content attacking people on the basis of who they are.
- Ads aimed at children.
- Deceptive “you won” units, fake system alerts, fake close buttons, and other tricks designed to fool a reader into clicking.
- Undisclosed political advertising. Political messaging has to be transparent about who paid for it.
- Anything illegal under the applicable local rules for our jurisdiction.
We reserve the right to decline any ad that we judge unsafe, dishonest, or a poor fit, even if it does not fall neatly into the list above.
Technical and brand-safety notes
We aim to keep the reading experience clean. That means we avoid formats that hijack the page, autoplay disruptive audio, or bury the content under interstitials. Creative should meet common size and weight standards so it loads quickly and does not slow the site down for readers. If you have brand-safety requirements on your side, tell us, and we will work through them before anything runs.
How to get in touch
To discuss advertising, email us at support@wearyellowforseth.com and put ADVERTISING in the subject line so it reaches the right place quickly. To help us respond usefully, please include:
- Your company and the product or message you want to promote.
- The format you are interested in: programmatic, direct display, sponsored content, or newsletter.
- Rough timing and budget.
- Any landing pages or creative you already have.
- Any targeting or brand-safety requirements on your end.
We read every genuine inquiry. What we cannot offer, at any price, is influence over our coverage. If that condition works for you, we would be glad to hear from you. For anything that is not about advertising, use our contact page instead.
